Pappy at SAQ, price increases at LCBO, betatest for new Bottlebeagle coverage

Welcome to the inaugural BottleBeat Weekly: a newsletter meant to fill you in on new and rare releases, industry news, and anything else of interest to Bottlebeagle users.

Pappy at SAQ

Calendar of events | SAQ.COM
The SAQ offers a wide selection of alcoholic beverages (wines, beers and spirits) available in more than 400 stores in Quebec, as well as a large number of products available for online purchase.

As noted in our guide to finding Pappy van Winkle bourbon in Canada, the SAQ has been working on a new lottery system for allocating rare bottles. It's finally launched, and Pappy's on the docket soon. You can keep checking their lottery page (as well as create an SAQ account for when the time comes), or sign up for the SAQ e-mail newsletter.

Price increases at LCBO

Looks like whiskey's getting warer. Get it? Rarer? Okay.

According to u/Potent_Imbiber, Lagavulin 16 is adding $5 to its price, as is Auchentoshan Three Wood; more increases seem likely. Might be time to pull the trigger if you're thinking of anything.

Worth wondering, too: is this going to be a new annual tradition? The LCBO just spent a few days updating their e-commerce infrastructure, and these price changes seem timed around that.

New Bottlebeagle coverage (beta testers needed!)

Currently, Bottlebeagle just works for the LCBO, but I'm working on the SAQ and BCLC next. Interested? Just reach out to me at andrew@bottlebeagle.com, and I'll set you up with three free alerts, and will ask nicely for feedback.

Until next week!
